PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL | Charles Wang competed at the Web.com tour's Q school finals for the first time on Thursday, and began the first round with an even par 72. Along with the help of his caddie, B.J. Pitzen, Wang arrived at PGA national aiming at the top 45 position in order to grab his Web.com Tour card. Wang's beginning on the Fazio course put him into a tie for 81st after the first round. During Wang's second round of play, he charged up the leaderboard by posting a 3-under par round of 68 on the Champion Course, which plays host to the PGA Tour's Honda Classic. Wang's round included five birdies in formidable wind conditions. The 18-year-old Beijing native sat in a tie for 40th place after round two. Wang's 3-under par 69 on the Fazio course catapulted him into a tie for 17th after Saturday's 20-25 mph wind gusts. Despite two consecutive untimely doubles on the Champion's Course at No. 14 & the "Bear Trap's" No. 15, Wang held it together to post a 2-over par in the final round's 25-35 mph gusts on the Champion's Course.
Wang was the only player in the 157-man field to successfully qualify in all four stages (including pre-qualifying) of the 2015 Web.Com Tour Q-School.
Wang, who currently resides in Bradenton and practices at The Concession Golf Club in Lakewood Ranch, is the youngest player to successfully attain his Web.com Tour card in 2015. Pitzen's vast playing experience in professional tournaments, seven appearances at PGA Tour Q-School from 2002-'09, and tour caddie tenure in the event every season since 2009 gave Wang the extra experience he needed on the bag yo qualify.
Pitzen, who currently resides in Lakeland with his wife and three kids, competed and Monday qualified into three events on the PGA Tour's Nationwide Tour (former Web.com Tour) in 2008.
